PEDAL ACTIVATED MUSIC PAGE TURNER

This project was my final in one of my classes for my degree. I had to find a problem, come up with different solutions to the problem, and then build a working prototype. Since my wife plays the harp, I noticed that she had a hard time turning her physical pages since she needed both hands on the strings. I came up with several mock-up ideas, including using compressed air to turn the page. My final design is using a ratchet like gear and a bike brake cable attached to the pedal to turn the page. I used K'Nex as my medium, since I had them readily available and it was easy to make modifications.

BRIDGE OF MCDONALD DRINKING STRAWS

This was another fun project. I could only use hot glue and 50 McDonald straws to build a bridge that spanned 12 inches with only a 14 inch bridge. The bridge that held the most received the A in the class and the rest of the class was curved off of that. I broke the class record of 83 lbs with my bridge holding 105 lbs.

OAK END TABLE

This project included making a small model of a table and then creating it full scale. I decided to do an oak end table with a dark walnut finish on it to compliment the piano in my front room.

PENDANT LIGHT FIXTURE

This project required me to design a pendant light to be cut  out with a laser that utilized interlocking parts. I chose clear acrylic plastic because it would give clean and defined edges. It was easy to assemble and disassemble which was nice since I made this for a Christmas Star to go on our Christmas tree.
